SECURITY CONSULTANT

Farncombe is a specialised professional services firm operating in the broad digital video technology, telecoms and digital media sectors. Its current focus is on the increased opportunities made available by a converging market which extends from cable, satellite and terrestrial delivery to telco-managed IPTV, video-over-Internet and mobile TV offerings.

Farncombe is looking for a security consultant to be added to its content security practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform security reviews of content protection solutions deployed on various platforms: set-top-box , smartphone, connectedTV, PC, etc.
• Provide security consultancy to customers: this can range from a SoC design to an iPhone application architecture
• Manage requests for proposals (RFPs) for digital TV technologies on behalf of customers: requires understanding customer needs, writing technical requirements, interviewing companies and making final recommendations

Skills

• First degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science or Engineering
• 5+ years’ experience in security, cryptography, DRM and Conditional Access Solutions
• Familiarity with digital TV and set-top-box technologies (DVB, IPTV)
• Knowledge of output copy protection mechanisms such as HDCP and watermarking techniques
• Knowledge of security protocols such as SSL and PKI
• Knowledge of Android and iPhone platforms
• Experience with hardware implementations, VHDL coding, FPGA is a plus
• Highly organized approach to projects. Project management experience a plus.

Starting date: Immediate

Location: Paris, France or Basingstoke, UK

Travel: 20 %

STRATEGY CONSULTANTS

Our fast-growing Strategy Practice is uniquely positioned to understand the financial and strategic implications of technology evolution in the media sector. We are especially active in strategy for new, innovative services and commercial and technical due diligence. Our clients include broadcasters, telecom operators and service providers across all segments of the video delivery chain.

We are looking for consultants and sr. consultants that are willing to share our passion for technology, enjoy intellectual challenges and are fun to work with.

Our ideal candidates have:

• 2 years to 4 years’ experience in management consulting
• Exposure to the media sector
• Strong analytical and modeling skills
• Fluency in English – German, Spanish and French are highly desirable

Ideal candidates will have:

• Experience in the digital TV domain, specifically STB-related

ASSOCIATES

We are always on the lookout for experienced freelance contract staff with specific engineering and project management expertise in the TV, broadcasting and video delivery sector to supplement the core skills of our in-house engineering services team. Roles include:

• Project Managers
• Technical Project Managers
• QA analysts
• Embedded Developers
• Enterprise Architects
• STB Architects
• Network Engineers
• System Integration Engineers

Experience working with relevant software, hardware and systems is highly desirable. Examples include digital asset management systems, playout systems, DVB broadcast systems, set-top boxes, middlewares, conditional access systems and over-the-top TV clients such as Flash and Silverlight.

This list is not exhaustive, but you should be familiar with some of these if you have the relevant experience.

Signing up as an associate means your profile will automatically be considered when we are asked to bid for projects which require external resources to supplement those in-house.

You should have experience of self-managing long-term engineering projects and in some cases be prepared to work abroad for extended periods.

Additional language expertise is an advantage but not essential.
